Hydrangea macrophylla Colonel Durham **

 Hydrangea macrophylla Colonel Durham **

One of the best pink mopheads. It has lovely round balls of vibrant pink flowers in lime soils. If planted in acid soils the flowers are a lovely mauve colour. Colonel Durham is a variety from our series of Grandma’s Hydrangea’s – a range of charming old Grandma Hydrangeas that were forgotten and nearly lost to cultivation.

A delightful mophead with double frilled flowers; pale blue in acid soil and a soft pink in alkaline soil.  A compact plant ideal for small gardens.  The foliage can sometimes look pale and spotty, however this is disguised by the masses of flowers.  The flowers look lovely in a vase.
