Thought to be the wild form of H. macrophylla. The original wild plants were found growing by the coast, hence its name. The bold blue and white lacecap flowers are pleasantly scented and can be up to 30cm across. Will tolerate sun, shade, and wind including salt laden. Looks great planted in drifts under trees.

One of the Dutch Lady Series of hydrangea along with Sabrina. The mophead flowers are a deep hot pink with a magenta eye, or reddish, violet purple in acid soils (as in the photo). The new foliage has a reddish tone. Good for cut flower and drying.
