A large shrub with huge triangular-shaped, white flower heads that age pink in autumn. The flower heads can be up to 45cm long by 30cm across and are packed with sterile flowers. They are so heavy that the branches bend over with the weight giving a cascading effect. Full sun.

A tidy miniature form with smaller sized flowers. The creamy-white cone shaped flowers turn antique pink with age particularly if planted in full sun. The big bold oak-shaped leaves provide a stunning autumn display turning crimson and purple. Can be susceptible to root disease,this is more prevalent when planted in wet soil,  with humid conditions.

Collected in Taiwan.  This species is a relative of the hydrangea and is very similar to the climbing Hydrangea however has much larger flower heads (up to 30cm wide) with white bracts. Ideal up a ponga or old tree trunk.  Slightly less frost hardy than Hydrangea petiolaris and S. hydrangeoides.
